Q: Why does a client keep losing connection?

A:
NOTE: The Proxim antenna cable or Ethernet network cables cannot be run next to high voltage power or signal lines
1. Ping the WISE Server from the client computer
a. Go to the Start menu → Programs → Accessories → Command Prompt
b. Type “ping 192.168.2.x –t” (x is the number in the computer name of the wise server)
c. If there are a high number of Request timed out
i. There is a possible network problem between the two computers
d. Check the Master Proxim in the rack
i. If the Master light is not on, replace the Proxim with another Master
ii. If the Link light is not on, replace the Ethernet cable
e. Check the Client Proxim connected to the client computer
i. If the Sync light is not on, check the Client Proxim antenna for line of sight problems with the master Proxim antenna. Also check the Master and the Client antennas and cables
ii. If the Link light is not on, replace the Ethernet cable
f. Use RealVNC to check the connection
i. Go to the Start menu → Programs → RealVNC → VNC Viewer 4 → Run VNC Viewer
ii. Type the name of the Client computer into the Server: drop-down menu
iii. Click on the OK button
iv. Type alpha3 into the Password: textbox
v. Reconnect the WISE Client Node to the Server; see the section on empty client Drill Views
vi. Reposition the Proxim antenna and consider replacing the Proxim with an Ethernet cable
